2020 seems like we have election weeks rather than an Election Day, thanks to COVID-19 and the increase in mail-in voting.
Whether you choose to vote or not (but why wouldn’t you vote!?) you can still ride the general election wave on social media for your business.
Here's three ideas you can elect to use. (see the pun we used there? he he)
1. Hold Your Own Poll
Share some of your products/services on an Instagram or Facebook post and ask them to vote on which one they like the best. Have some new items you want to launch?
Ask your followers which new product they would want you to sell. New menu item - ask. You can also utilize Instagram stories or Facebook highlights to ask for feedback as well.
Take it up a notch and make it a giveaway! You can do this by asking people to vote in the comments in order to enter to win.
2. Reward Those Doing Their Civic Duty
Have a special offer for people who voted. They can show you proof that they voted (their ballot receipt or sticker) and you can give them a discount or small gift from your business. You can also give them a patriotic shoutout on your Instagram stories to thank them for voting, with their permission of course.
3. Share a Voting Selfie
If you voted, share it on your business account. We aren’t asking you to share who you voted for, but just the fact that you are proudly doing your civic duty as an American. Make sure you tag it with #ivoted #election2020 because let's be honest, if Instagram isn’t aware of you voting, did you even do it?
Instagram has fun voting stickers you can add to your selfie when you upload it to your Instagram Stories. Want to post your selfie with the sticker? Save your story to your photo library and then upload it as a post.
We hope you exercise your right to vote on November 3 and encourage your followers and patrons to do so as well. For information on voting registration in your state, visit https://vote.gov.
